GREENSTAR ROLLS OUT COMMERCIAL SINGLE STREAM IN PENNSYLVANIA; ANNOUNCES THE ACQUISITION OF TWO ADDITIONAL RECYCLE PARTNERS

Company Highlights Growth and Recycling Innovations at the 2008
National Recycling Conference (NRC) in Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH, (September  22, 2008) - Houston-based Greenstar North America, the country's largest private processor of recyclables, announced today that it is rolling out commercial single stream services in Pennsylvania that will drive increased recovery of recyclables across the state. Greenstar also noted that it is rebranding its Recycle Management Company (RMC) operations as Greenstar. Greenstar, which acquired Recycle Management Company of Pittsburgh through a partnership in March of 2007, is now the largest recycling processor in the state with seven strategic locations in Pennsylvania.

"Commercial single stream service provides a much more convenient system for recovering recyclables at offices, malls, universities and similar locations" said Steve Ragiel, CEO of Greenstar North America. "The convenience of commercial single stream leads to significant increases in the recovery of valuable recyclables from the waste stream." Commercial single stream conveniently allows customers to mix all dry recyclables in one container including corrugated boxes, office paper, newspapers, bottles and cans.

Greenstar's Pennsylvania operations include three Material Recovery Facilities (MRFs) in: Pittsburgh-Neville Island, Carnegie and Northampton-Allentown. There are also four residential/commercial recycle transfer stations in Donora, Ellwood City, Pittsburgh and Scottdale. The Pittsburgh-Neville Island facility and the Northampton-Allentown facilities both provide optical sorting for single stream plastics and paper and are two of the most highly automated single stream plants in the nation. Significant customers for Greenstar in the region include the City of Pittsburgh, City of Allentown City of Bethlehem, City of Harrisburg, Allied Waste, JP Mascaro Brothers, Waste Management, Vogel/TC Industries and many other towns and independent haulers.

In addition, the company has recently acquired Global Recycling, a dual stream MRF located in Monmouth County, New Jersey, and American Recycling Company (ARC), which specializes in providing recycling services to the printing industry nationwide. Over the next few months both companies will be rebranded and operated as Greenstar.

"These acquisitions were strategic to our market growth and portfolio diversification," said Steve Dunn, President of Greenstar's Eastern Region. "Global Recycling and American Recycling bring established, long-standing customer relationships that we look forward to building and expanding on through our single stream processing program, international alliances and growing North American footprint."

Executives from Greenstar will be available for media interviews at the National Recycling Conference taking place at the David Lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh, PA, September 21-24, 2008; Booth #217.  Greenstar will be available to discuss its national rebranding efforts, growth strategy and new recycling technologies. In addition, Greenstar will host a media tour at its Pittsburg facility. To schedule an interview with Greenstar or if you are interested in receiving more details about the Pittsburg facility tour please contact Kiska Workman at the contact information listed above.
