Greenstar and Houston Dynamo Partner for Greener Stadium
New venue will be built for environmental responsibility
The Houston Dynamo's new downtown stadium construction is underway and is focused on creating an environmentally sustainable venue. Sustainable construction highlights include use of local materials, and recycling of construction debris. Once built, the stadium will rely on recycling partner Greenstar Recycling to handle all facility recycling services.
The new downtown stadium has taken its first step toward being an environmentally sustainable venue after it was registered with the United States Green Building Council for certification under the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) system.
The project has been registered by architect Populous, project manager ICON Venue Group, and builder Manhattan Construction Company and will be evaluated for LEED credits upon completion of the venue. LEED ratings are based on a point system that measure the building's impact on the environment.
