Steve Dunn - Vice President

Steve Dunn is Vice President of Municipal Development. In this role, he is responsible for the overall growth and development of Greentar's municipal business.
Steve has more than 25 years experience in the solid waste and recycling industry having worked both in the public sector and for private industry. Steve most recently worked for SP Newsprint in their recycling organization based in Atlanta, where he was Director of Operations for the Central Region. A graduate of the University of Illinois, Steve began his career at the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency and was later the Solid Waste Administrator for DuPage County, located in the Chicago metro area. There he managed solid waste planning including the provision of one of the first large automated material recovery facilities in the U.S. along with coordination of curbside collection through cities located in the county.
Steve joined Browning-Ferris Industries (BFI) in 1991 managing the development and operations of recycling facilities throughout their Midwest and Southern regions. While working in the two regions, he was responsible for more than 40 recycling locations ranging in size from several hundred tons per month to more than 15,000 tons per month. His responsibilities later included the marketing of materials generated in the Midwest.
In 2000, Steve joined Waste Management's Recycle America to develop their noteworthy Twin Cities facility located in Minneapolis, a facility accepting nearly 20,000 tons per month of single-stream, commercial, hi-grade and electronic recyclables. Steve subsequently went to the Southern California market for Recycle America. There he was responsible for several newly acquired single-stream facilities, a combination dirty MRF and waste transfer operation, and a wood waste recovery facility.
